Where Classics and Their Inheritors Meet - The Standards.
As more and more states are moving to adopt the Common Core State Standards, English teachers are faced with an all too familiar issue- trying to make lessons interesting and engaging for students while meeting the required standards. One way to accomplish this goal is to use more modern and recent literature to keep the students relating to the text and to keep the texts relevant to the students’ own lives.

In addition to demonstrating how to write theme rationales for these new choices, we also provide links to several textbooks and websites that can help keep teachers updated on new book releases.
